Modern life offers so many opportunities to express ourselves. In everything from social media to our Bible studies we find a medium for our view on any topic. In a relativistic world it is easy to place too much value on our viewpoint. Our self-esteem can become entangled in our own judgement. The danger comes in believing our own press about things in which we really have no say.
Here is something to keep in mind. When it comes to your spiritual value, YOUR opinion of YOU is irrelevant. YOU did not create YOU. YOU are not qualified to judge YOU. So, regardless if you are feeling proud or inadequate, arrogant or condemned, you are wasting your time. GOD’s view of you is what matters and concerning that we know two things: If GOD looks at YOU through your SIN the outcome is BLEAK, but if HE looks at YOU through CHRIST, the view is SPOTLESS.
We must hold onto what scripture tells us even above our own opinion. Here is a reminder from Colossians 1:21-23 (ERV)
At one time you were separated from God. You were his enemies in your minds, because the evil you did was against him.
But now he has made you his friends again. He did this by the death Christ suffered while he was in his body. He did it so that he could present you to himself as people who are holy, blameless, and without anything that would make you guilty before him.
And that is what will happen if you continue to believe in the Good News you heard. You must remain strong and sure in your faith. You must not let anything cause you to give up the hope that became yours when you heard the Good News.
